Welcome to St Patrick’s College for Girls website. St Patrick’s is a Catholic Secondary School for Girls in the Good Samaritan Tradition, which operates under the trusteeship of Good Samaritan Education.
As you read the pages on this website you will learn much of our College’s history and charism, its current endeavours and offerings as well as the planning and direction for the future.
The College’s rich history dates back to when Bishop Polding, a Benedictine monk, blessed the original foundation stone of the first St Patrick’s site on 17 March in 1840. This makes the College the oldest Catholic independent school in Australia built and funded by local enterprise without government assistance.
Originally staffed by lay teachers, the Sisters of the Good Samaritan (an order established by Bishop Polding in 1857) assumed responsibility for the College in 1887 on two sites (refer to History section).
...are an integral part of the faith and life of the College.
As a Catholic school, the College celebrates the Church calendar in liturgy, masses, and prayer and is committed to social justice and community service.
We at the College are committed to the education of young women and believe that as a single sex school, our students are able to develop to their full potential academically, spiritually and socially.
